Michael
R. Stetler graduated from the University of Illinois in
1999 with a bachelor's degree in accountancy. He passed
the Certified Public Accountant exam in 2000. Continuing
at the University of Illinois, he earned a Master's degree
in taxation in 2002 and completed his Juris Doctor in 2003.
While in Champaign, Michael worked with the University
of Illinois Police, volunteered at the Center for Economic
Progress, provided tax services for low income and elderly
taxpayers, and led discussion sessions for several accounting
classes as a teaching assistant. Prior to joining Gitlin and Kasper, he worked as a research assistant for
Professor Linda Beale at the University of Illinois Law
School and spent a brief time as a para-professional in
the probate field.
Michael strives to achieve the best possible post-tax
results for Gitlin and Kasper clients through effective
asset selection and tax consequence arbitrage. He enjoys
working with financial documents, understands and can speak
effectively with numbers. His background in taxation and
accountancy brings another welcome perspective to this
firm.
