Amanda Y. Garcia graduated from the University of Michigan in 2002 with a bachelor’s degree in philosophy. She attended the Loyola University of Chicago School of Law where she received her Juris Doctor in 2006.
During law school, Amanda was a Senior Editor of the Children’s Legal Rights Journal and President of the Latin American Law Student Association. She volunteered as a child advocate for the Unaccompanied Immigrant Minors Project, providing guidance throughout immigration proceedings to migrant children trafficked to the United States without a parent or guardian. Amanda received the Student of the Year Award 2006 from the Loyola Law School Student Bar Association.
Amanda interned with the Chicago Legal Clinic where she dealt with family law clients in custody, paternity, and domestic violence proceedings. She is deeply interested in the field of children’s rights.
